DeepBlue had the honour and pleasure of being the house band for the Australian of the Year Awards. It was so inspiring learning about all the nominees’ incredible contributions to climate change action, social justice, medical research and the arts.

It was great to play for Dr James Muecke as he received his Australian of the Year Award. So good to hear him advocate for a tax on sugary drinks in the fight against Type 2 diabetes in his acceptance speech. Check out our rendition of the Masters Apprentices classic we chose for his walk-on music.

DeepBlue were so humbled to play for Bernie Shakeshaft as he made his stage to accept his Australian of the Year Local Hero Award. Check out the amazing work that Backtrack do turning around the lives of marginalised young people.
