Sophie Loades

SophieLoadesSophie Loades’ passion, is the effect that music has on people and its role within communities across the world.

Completing a Bachelor of Music at QUT in 2008 Sophie has worked as a performer and as a community musician across Australia and internationally.

Currently working as a tour manager and community engagement coordinator for DeepBlue, Sophie has co-produced Four DeepBlue SummerSchools for young musicians aged 8-18; acted as tour manager for national and international tours; directed and managed DeepBlue at Your School events since 2011 and worked on co-producing the DeepBlue show “India Stories”.

Sophie also works for Student Engagement at QUT as the director of the QUT Music Society. This program engages QUT Students from all disciplines with music. Her role includes organisation and management of festivals and events, such as the Official Welcome Party, QUT Ball and East West Fest as well as assisting in the production of Student-led events.

Sophie also freelances at schools across Brisbane directing workshops and working with young people in many different musical contexts. The last 5 years have seen Sophie working with young people in music programs across Australia as well as facilitating community music projects in Solomon Islands, Peru and Zimbabwe. Sophie is now back at QUT studying a research masters in community music.

Sophie currently co-manages DeepBlue  along with Greta Kelly and is President of the DeepBlue Orchestra Inc. Board.
